Preliminary Training on “Developing a Framework for BAT Reference Documents for the three Industry Sectors in India - Tannery, Textile, and Chemical”

A preliminary training was organized for the staff of the Central Pollution Control Board on “Developing a Framework for BAT Reference Documents for the three Industry Sectors in India - Tannery, Textile, and Chemical” during September 27-19, 2016. Mr. Franz Ellermann, a senior German expert on BREF (best available techniques reference documents) processes conducted the training together with the experts from the German Environmental Federal Agency (UBA).

The training included discussions on all the 21 single steps, how to prepare templates for data collection as well as for wish-lists, defining the “key environmental issues” to be dealt with during BREF elaboration process, importance of the “Information Exchange Process”, about the Technical Working Group and other relevant aspects.

In addition to the template (the general structure), the more detailed fine structures of the corresponding EU BREFs were shared, including for the Textile Industry, for the Tanning of Hides and Skins, for the Manufacturing of Organic Fine Chemicals and for Common Waste Water and Waste Gas Treatment / Management Systems in the Chemical Sector.
